Come Up Higher

We do not need to over-emphasize that there is power in the word of God but we can remind ourselves and encourage one another.  The sword of the Spirit is the word of God (Eph 6:17). God used it to create the heavens and the earth and created us in His own image.

God is calling us to come up higher; we can term it to mean it is His will for us to move up higher spiritually, financially and for our general well being.

He says in Matthew 6: 33

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

So, whichever level you are now, endeavour to move to the next level of spirituality by getting closer to Him, knowing His will, obeying Him and generally reaching out to others.

Say to yourself: “I am coming up higher, – This year is my year”.

Let us examine some of the ways we can move up higher.  There is only one major thing to focus on, and that is to “seek God Himself”.  Everything radiates around Him first and foremost and then all others fall into place as He leads us by His Spirit through the word.

Using The Word

Jeremiah 5:14

14 Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts:

“Because you speak this word; Behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire,
And this people wood, And it shall devour them.

With the Bible we have all that we need.

 Joshua 1:5; 8-9

5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The key instructions here are that we should meditate on the bible day and night, basically, all the time.  He promises to protect us and that nobody will ever be able to prevail against us.  We can also claim territories we step into. We will be successful in all we do, if only we can have courage.  Read the word; believe it and you will “come up higher”.

2 Kings 2: 19-22

19 Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.”

20 And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21 Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’” 22 So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

Pray profusely, open your mouth and tell God everything exactly as it is.  Don’t pretend, He is your father and always willing to help and to bless you.

Psalm 1:1-6

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.

3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.

4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Again, we are told to delight in the bible and meditate day and night.  He promises abundant blessings in return.  We will be fruitful, we will flourish and prosper in all we lay our hands upon, if only we can “Come up higher”.

Psalm 92: 12-15

12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

15 To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Here we are told that the righteous shall flourish and shall be like a cedar tree. These are tall, evergreen and have wide spreading branches.

Also we are promised that we shall still bear fruit in old age. This means that we can still accomplish much, we can impact positively on others, encourage, help, deposit experiences and knowledge gathered, win even more souls and reach out generally and with great impact.

God desires we should have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10)

There is no need to manage our lives.   You greet some people, `’how are you?”  And they respond with “I am managing!”  That will not be your portion IJN.

“Come up higher” and you will see the reward.

  • Exercise Your Faith

Hebrews 11:1

We are saved by faith (Galatians 2:20)

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

We must live by faith (Hebrews 10:38a)

38a Now the just shall live by faith;

Whatsoever is not of faith is sin (Romans 14:23b)

23 But he who doubts is condemned

By faith Abraham left his home country and followed the Lord’s leading.  The rest is history as you and I are his descendants and are enjoying his blessings or supposed to be enjoying depending on your level of faith and spirituality.

We read that Abraham’s servant went to look for a wife for his son Isaac and did it by faith through specific prayer and God answered him immediately.  Later, Jacob in the next generation did his through flesh and ended up working for between 18-20 years of hard work to get his wife.  Therefore, our genuine faith gives us grace and enablement to prosper in our endeavours.

Therefore, “Come up higher”. Apply faith and not flesh.  God is waiting.

Say to your self: “Lord give me grace to know the difference between favour and labour IJN.

  • Obedience to God and Those In Authority

Those in authority include our bosses, husbands, our leaders, spiritual heads and parents among others.  The bible tells us that if we truly love God we will obey Him.

John 14:15 & 21

15“If you love Me, keepMy commandments.

21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

1 John 2:4

4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

If and when God gives us commandments, whether through revelation or prophecy, or even through study and meditation, and we don’t obey then we definitely don’t love Him and are therefore liars.

Also, through obedience in soul winning, many are saved:

Romans 5:19

18Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

Deuteronomy 11:26 & 27

26    “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:

We receive blessings when we obey God.

1 Samuel 15:22

So Samuel said:

“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,

As in obeying the voice of the LORD?

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,

And to heed than the fat of rams.

You can bring all you own to God and yet it would not make any difference to Him if there is disobedience in your life, not only to Him but ANY of those in authority.

Therefore, I admonish you to obey even more than before:

“Come up higher” And begin to enjoy His blessings in a new dimension.

Tell your neighbor, “I am moving up”

  • Unity In Cooperation

When was the last time you agreed to agree with others?  Are you willing to co-operate with others or are you always wanting to get your way, wanting to outshine others or do you just enjoy making things tough for others?  Have a rethink!

God said in Genesis 11:6

6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.

This means there is power in unity and that we can achieve our goals as a result.

Acts 2:1-4: The disciples and others received the baptism of the Holy Ghost for the first time.

In like manner Matthew 18:19

19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

God promises to answer when we do agreement prayers. (My recent back pains)

  • Trust God The More

Psalm 125:1-2

1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.

2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore

God provides strength and assurance for us in difficult times.  When we trust Him, we are secure and immovable as Mount Zion where the temple was built, is immovable.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him; And He shall direct your paths.

God has never been found to lie. So why should we hold back in trusting Him since there’s more to gain than trusting in possessions or man. Move away from trusting in such. “Come up higher”.

  • Give More From Now On

Luke 6:38

38 Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Proverbs 3:27-28

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due; when it is in the power of your hand to do so.

28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you.

2 Chronicles 9:6-9

6 However I did not believe their words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me. You exceed the fame of which I heard.

7 Happy are your men and happy arethese your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

8 Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.”

9 And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, spices in great abundance, and precious stones; there never were any spices such as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

When you open your hands to bless others, it is also open to receive.

The law of sowing and reaping is prevalent.  There is harvest when you plant.

  • Show More Gratitude Than Before

Psalm 34:1

1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Psalm 107:8

8 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness; And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

The more you give thanks, the more you receive.  God honours our giving and delights in a grateful heart.  Grace abounds where there is a thankful heart.

“COME UP HIGHER!”
